Cynthia Olavarría
Cynthia Enid Olavarría Rivera, First Runner Up to the 2005
Miss Universe Pageant, model, actress, and presenter, was
born in San Juan Puerto Rico on January 28, 1983. At the
early age of 3, became interested in modeling, TV hosting;
ballet dancing and beauty pageants.
At 12, became the co-host of the most popular children TV
program called “Contra El Reloj”. After finishing her High
School with honors, decided to have her first experience in
the modeling industry by participating in the Elite Model
Look 2000 model search, arriving in second place.
Cynthia became a top model, appearing in the cover of the
most important magazines in P.R. such as Imagen, Caras, San
Juan City Magazine, Buena Vida, Fashionista, Excape, Belleza
y Salud, Agenda para la Novia, Tu Boda, and many other
important publications and fashion editorials in the United
States like the Lincoln Road Magazine, Selecta Magazine, and
the Spanish versions of Cosmopolitan, People, and Glamour
Magazines.
Because of her excellent runway skills she’s been part of
the San Juan
Fashion Week, Puerto Rico Fashion Trends, and has modeled
for international designers like Gustavo Cadile, Nicolás
Felizola, Gustavo Arango, Nono Maldonado, John Dunn, Stella
Nolasco, Carlos Alberto, and private shows for Louis Vuitton,
Sak’s Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus.
Her fashion photography and TV commercials campaigns stretch
from Diet Pepsi, Aquafina, to Verizon and Gillette. She’s
also the worldwide spokesperson for Stopol, a leader in the
plastics industry.
For her international and commercial look and her remarkable
modeling career, Cynthia was awarded “Best Model of the
Year” two years in a row (2003 and 2004), and received
countless offers to be professionally represented by major
agencies in New York.
In June 2004, graduated Magna Cum Laude, from the University
of Puerto Rico (BA Mass Communication, Journalism and Public
Relations).
Cynthia joined Mexican personality Fernando Allende to host
the 2007 Miss World PR Pageant, made her theatrical debut
starring “La Princesa de los Ojos Tristes”, gave runway
coaching to the 2007 NBL contestants and also appeared in
Victor Manuelle and Sin Bandera’s musical video “Maldita
Suerte” (Latin Grammy winners).
In August 2007, Olavarría made her novella debut as “Malena
Ferreira”, starring “Mi Adorada Malena”, Caress and
Univision.com first Hispanic interactive novella.
She’s currently the host of Telemundo’s program “Decisiones”
and the Runway Coach and Modeling Director of Univision’s
Reality Show “Nuestra Belleza Latina.
